Transforming a Manual Compliance Process into a Scalable Digital Experience
Overview
BEEpro is a web-based platform designed to streamline the BBBEE verification process for consultants and organisations.
My Role: Lead UX/UI Designer

The Challenge
BBBEE verification was a highly manual and time-intensive process, relying heavily on spreadsheets, email communication, and fragmented tools. This led to:
- Frequent human errors in scorecard calculations
- Limited visibility across stakeholders
- Slow turnaround times, often taking days per verification
- Poor scalability, requiring more staff as the workload increased
Users, primarily verification consultants, struggled to manage complex compliance requirements efficiently while maintaining accuracy.
My Approach
To understand the problem space and design an effective solution, I led a structured UX process focused on aligning user needs with regulatory requirements.
1. Stakeholder & User Workshops
I facilitated workshops with verification consultants and business stakeholders to:
- Map out the current verification process
- Identify pain points and inefficiencies
- Understand compliance constraints and requirements
2. Journey Mapping
I translated insights into end-to-end journey maps, highlighting:
- Bottlenecks in the workflow
- Repetitive manual tasks
- Opportunities for automation and simplification
3. Rapid Prototyping & Iteration
I developed low- and high-fidelity prototypes to:
- Validate ideas quickly with users
- Iterate on workflow simplification
- Ensure alignment between user needs and compliance logic
Key UX Decisions
This project’s impact came from a few critical design decisions:

Reduced cognitive load by breaking complex forms into manageable, intuitive steps
To accelerate decision-making and keep stakeholders aligned, I also used Figma’s AI Assistant to generate early-stage prototypes. This allowed the team to visualise interface concepts in real time, gather stakeholder feedback faster, and give the development team early clarity on component behaviours, helping us iterate quickly and reduce rework during build.
