The Challenge
EmpowerLogic’s existing verification process relied heavily on spreadsheets and email, leading to version control issues, manual errors, and limited visibility into the process. The system struggled to scale without adding operational overhead.
The Strategy
To define the product direction, we facilitated a focused, two-week BEEPro Discovery Workshop with EmpowerLogic stakeholders. Our goal was to uncover pain points in the manual verification process, understand user roles, and align on business and compliance goals.
Using collaborative exercises like Users & Goals, Mind Mapping, and Narrative Mapping, we identified:
- Bottlenecks and inefficiencies in the existing workflow
- Diverse user needs across internal and external stakeholders
- Key compliance rules and data dependencies
These insights informed the product strategy, feature prioritisation, and overall UX approach, setting a clear foundation for design and delivery.
The Design Approach
We applied user-centred design principles and rapid prototyping to create an intuitive portal that simplifies complex BEE verification processes. Emphasis was placed on accessibility, task flow clarity, and minimal training for both internal teams and clients.
Key features included:
- Automated scorecard generation to reduce human error and ensure regulatory consistency
- Real-time dashboards that give all stakeholders visibility into progress and bottlenecks
- Streamlined onboarding requiring minimal training for both clients and staff
- Secure data handling to meet compliance and access needs
To accelerate decision-making and keep stakeholders aligned, we also used Figma’s AI Assistant to generate early-stage prototypes. This allowed us to visualise interface concepts in real time, gather stakeholder feedback faster, and give the development team early clarity on component behaviours, helping us iterate quickly and reduce rework during build.
The Solution
We designed a self-service portal with built-in automation, real-time dashboards, and secure data management. By integrating compliance logic and streamlining the user journey, the platform reduced cycle time and enabled EmpowerLogic to grow without adding to its team.
